Privacy Policy

Who we are

Conversation Decoder (“we”, “us”) provides a tool that helps people reflect on difficult conversations. For privacy questions or requests, contact conversationdecoder@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Account data: your email address, optional display name, sign-in provider (Google or email), and whether you have opted in to occasional product updates.
  • Conversation data: any text you submit for analysis, including the conversation itself, the optional context, the selected relationship type, and the speaker role. We also keep the AI-generated analysis tied to your account.
  • Saved analyses: when you are signed in, your analyses are stored in your private history so you can revisit them. Anonymous analyses are stored without a user identifier.
  • Feedback: thumbs up/down ratings and any optional comment you choose to leave on an analysis.
  • Technical data: standard request metadata such as IP address, user agent, error logs, and crash/diagnostic information (for example, stack traces and the URL where an error occurred) used to keep the service running and to fix bugs. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
  • Cookies and local storage: your authentication session is stored in your browser’s local storage. We also store a small flag (cd_anon_last_decode) to enforce the one-free-analysis-per-day limit for signed-out users, and your marketing-opt-in preference between sign-in steps.

Authentication providers

You can sign in with Google or with a one-time email link. When you sign in with Google we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

AI processing of submitted conversations

Your conversation text is sent to OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C., based in the United States) to generate the analysis. This means your submissions are processed on servers located in the United States under OpenAI’s API terms, and are not used by OpenAI or by Conversation Decoder to train any model. Please do not submit content you are not comfortable sharing with a US-based third-party AI service.

How we protect your data

All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS / TLS. Data at rest in our backend (Lovable Cloud, powered by Supabase) is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption at rest. Access to production data is restricted to the operators of Conversation Decoder.

Deleting your account from within the app

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data (profile, saved analyses, feedback you left on your own analyses, and your authentication record) at any time from within the app. Sign in, open the Account link in the top navigation, and follow the confirmation prompt. You can also visit /delete-account directly. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

How we use your data

  • To generate the analysis you requested.
  • To save your analyses to your private history (signed-in users only).
  • To improve accuracy and prompt design based on aggregate feedback.
  • To keep the service secure, debug errors, and prevent abuse.
  • To send occasional product updates if you opt in.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:
  • Our backend host (Lovable Cloud, powered by Supabase).
  • The AI provider that generates analyses.
  • Google, if you choose Google sign-in.
  • Lawful requests where we are legally required to comply.

Data retention

Saved analyses remain in your history until you delete them or delete your account. Anonymous analyses may be retained indefinitely in aggregate, but contain no account identifier. Feedback is retained until the associated analysis is deleted. Deleting your account removes your profile, saved analyses, feedback you left on your own analyses, and your authentication record.

Your rights

You can:
  • Access your saved analyses from the History page.
  • Delete any individual analysis from the History page.
  • Delete your entire account at any time from /delete-account.
  • Opt out of product updates by emailing us.
  • Request a copy of your data, correction, restriction, or to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Children

Conversation Decoder is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in some regions). Please do not create an account if you are below the minimum age in your country.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify signed-in users.
